RELAX 2 RELAX
Duo with Chris Dehler, Exotic Instruments
In the duo RELAX 2 RELAX Joachim Gies and Chris Dehler create a concept of music that joins exceptional sounds of the saxophone with unusual sounds of exotic instruments.
The sound movement is full of tranquillity. Flows of tension and relaxation fuse organically. So the ear becomes sensitive for apparently small events. RELAX 2 RELAX means perceiving the inner spaces of sounds.
Chris Dehler startet his career as an actor in 1974, after finishing an apprenticeship as a businessman. Tours through Germany, France and Italy, longer stays in Norway and Australia, studies of No-Theatre, Kabuki Buyo, Peking Opera, Balinese- and Indian Dance formed a broad variety of skills and background for his later work for State-Theatres and Regional-Stages, as a director, choreographer and actor.
Since 1982 Chris Dehler performs as Multiinstrumentalist and Overtonesinger (throat singing) with a focus on so called monotone Instruments producing a wide range of Overtones. His major Instrument is the Didgeridoo. Apart from this he plays different Monochords, Jaws Harps, Overtoneflutes and owns a selection of 80 Singing Bowls (Tibatan Bells). Chris Dehler performs as solo artist, in different Formations and as a guest on various recordings.
In 2007 he directed the Barock Opera Cefalo e Procride, which was staged during the Uckermärkische Festwochen and was recorded for the RBB Radio Station of Berlin Brandenburg.
